Letter From the President

Greetings and thank you so much for visiting the official website of the Selma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Since November 13, 1953, the date of chartering the Selma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, members have diligently strived to sustain the vision of our 22 founders.  Located in the historic City of Selma, Alabama, the backbone of the Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s our chapter is proud of the rich history of our beloved community.  A community that is known around the world for the struggles of many foot soldiers who marched, protested and gave of their lives to gain the many freedoms we experience today.  Selma, home of the Edmund Pettus Bridge the site of Bloody Sunday on March 7, 1965 is still standing and reminding us daily of the sacrifices made 55 years ago.

 

The Selma Alumnae Chapter is charged with a commitment of service to Selma, Dallas, Lowndes and Perry Counties that many of our members live, work and worship.  As you learn of our history, you will certainly find that we remain steadfast in our effort to give back to our communities, provide leadership and promote scholarship in all areas.  Utilizing the Power in Our Voices we are determined to be a positive and leading force in all that we do to make a difference.  With Service in our Hearts will are destined to march into the communities to perform the work of Delta.  The Joy in our Sisterhood will be our foundation as we together, unified, and Delta strong love, laugh and live.
